Friends, as you go along, you'll make more...

Ok. Hil is taking sick leave today and annual leave tomorrow. Guess I'll be lonely. Anyway, I do have to get use of the days without her in the lab.. Coz her contract with my company is ending soon, and she will be off to find another job - one that she likes better. It's tough to choose between likes and friends.. but i think, likes is much more important.. as friends, you can make more of them as you go along... I think she is really a nice friend to have. Somehow, I really dun wish her to leave this place... if i can stop her by tying her up and threatening her, I think i will.. heh~...

An email from him brightens my day.

Received an email yesterday from a friend whom we didnt contact for a long time... I felt happy. He was the one to take care of me, when i am all alone in the lab during attachment days (in brisbane). I remembered the days when he brought food to share with me.. and the days when he drove me home, coz was a little late. He was just like a brother to me.. furthermore, he's an asian. hence, he made me felt more comfortable with him.

Anyway, I think he is facing a little technical difficulties with his PhD work. Hope that he can solve the problem soon. Good Luck!!

[pause.]

Today KK is going to KL for a business trip.. so good.. he got the chance to go overseas.. he will be back on friday.. seems sooo long to me... hehe~ but anyway, he said that he will be coming to meet me on friday, as well as sat. =) have fun!

Me and my Ba Zhang

Went to do some volunteer work yesterday. (organised by our social commitee members) . There's Steve, Nellie, Hwee ching, Kwee Poo, Lorriane, Leong Woo, Ibrahim, Hilary, Sheron and me. We brought the kids from Melrose home to Prawn Fishing at Pasir Ris town park. There were 25 children. From the youngest 5 to the oldest about 11. The whole event was nice and fun..some kids were really nice and they even tried to remember our names. they'll call us Jie jie and hold on to our hands. The children enjoyed fishing and prawning, playing games, getting prizes etc etc. In general, the event was a sucess. =)

However, there were small accidents happened, like, being pinched by the prawns, my fingers being hooked by the children's fishing hook and the worse, shelter falling into the pond, landing down on my right feet, scraping off a little skin. Ouch. I think I'm having bad luck. heh. Here's the pictures of my "ba zhang"

I cant focus.

Tonight Kk and I will be meeting our friend for dinner.. Time and place should be 7pm at Tiong Bahru. I not that sure because I was invited through Kk. =) Bought her a moshi moshi accessory. very nice. I like it myself too.

Anyway, had nothing much on hand now. so i browse the airline companies to see if there are any cheap deals. we are planning to go Penang and visit kk's granny. Seems like he's too busy these few days.. so i took the initiative to look around. It's easy looking for air tickets now... just a few clicks away.

Found 1 deal. great. But i dun have a credit card. hence gotta wait for kk again. haha~ another reason that i dun want to book the tickets now because i need a second pair of eyes (afraid of making mistakes).. and i need him to provide me with some details. hee~

11am now. still got a long time before knocking off. My eyes are tired. cant really keep my eyes focus on the screen. *yawnz*

Phone comparison.

They got new phones. Bro's gf got herself Sonyericsson k700i(left) and bro himself got k750i (right).

Let me give some specifications of the 2 phones.

Sony Ericsson k700i: VGA camera, blue tooth and infrared, not forgetting video recording. It has an inbuilt of 41 MB memory and weigh 93g.

Sony Ericsson k750i: 2 Mega pixel camera (auto focus), bluetooth and infrared plus video recording. It has an inbuilt memory of 34Mb plus a 64Mb memory stick included. You can change the memory stick to 1Gb. There are also loads of functions to explore. It comes with the PC software and the cable. oh ya, its a MP3 player too. The 3rd pic is the backview of k750i. cool right? It looks exactly like a camera from behind. the lens are also protected by the slide cover and plus, there's photolight!! I tried it yesterday and the light is really bright~

Summary: My brother's phone is cool!! and it's cheap!! its about 488 dollars and you get a camera plus mp3 player plus handphone all fused together!!

Ok.. this is my phone. Features: Dual display, VGA camera (4x zoom, night mode), video recorder (Up to 4 mins), Voice recorder (Up to 3 mins), MP3 player, infrared only. Weigh 121g.

This is a not so good phone in terms of feature wise. but it looks good (exterior). It has similar functions as the k700i.. just that it weighs much more heavier. One stupid thing about this phone is, it is a mp3 player... but of no use at ALL. Inbuilt memory of 13 mB and cannot support any external memory card. This phone cost my dear 338 bucks. I still like it a lot. coz it's a flip phone!!! (stupid reason huh)

Beside the phone is my camera. 2 mega pixels with mp3 player. cost me 450 bucks. Super expensive when it first launched.. cost we are buying the technology of the fusion of camera and mp3... (i didnt predict that multipurpose handphones like k750i will be out so soon - anyway, i bought the camera cause i need it that time.) Now the camera cost only 300 plus. I like this camera because it is super slim. only 9mm wide and with rotating lens, voice and video recording. guess what, its much more lighter than my phone! (i dunno the exact weight though).

In total summary...... all phones/cameras got its pros and cons. cant really compare that much.. but you really have to consider the features of the phone/camera.. whether you need it or not.. If not, buying an expensive phone/camera and you seldom use it... doesnt worth it too. Most importantly, do not buy in impulse!!

Testers for sale.

Went to look for perfume for Rach's birthday gift yesterday at lucky plaza.. I'm not a frequent user of perfume. Hence i only realise that testers can be for sale too. Testers are not those on the shelves where pple use it (or sometimes "abuse") to test on their body, skin, clothes etc.. The testers for sale are new without the nice box wrapping we usually see. I guess it's nicer to buy those boxes when you are getting it as a gift.. and for those testers, its much more cheaper if you are getting it for yourself. heh. I learnt something new.

Do You Know?

This is some of the interesting facts I read from the yahoo news some time ago and I think I can share this.

1) Chattering teeth is one way the body tries to generate heat.
When the body gets too cold, the area of the brain called the hypothalamus alerts the rest of the body to begin warming up. Shivering, the rapid muscle movement that generates heat, then begins. Teeth chattering represents localized shivering.

2) During the course of their research, Goldberg and Leyner found reports of gonorrhea, pinworm and roundworm found on toilet seats -- but catching something from it isn't common.
The authors discovered that an office setting might be worse for your health than toilet seats. Charles Gerba, a microbiologist at the University of Arizona, found the typical office desk harbors some 400 times more disease-causing bacteria than the average toilet seat.

BURNING QUESTIONS

Some of the burning questions answered in the humorous book include "What causes morning breath?" and "Why do beans give you gas?"

Goldberg says morning breath results from anaerobic bacteria, the xerostomia (dry mouth) or the volatile sulfur compounds (which are waste products from the bacteria). Other contributing factors to foul oral odor includes medication, alcohol, sugar, smoking, caffeine, and eating dairy products.

Beans contain high percentages of sugars that our bodies are unable to digest, Goldberg explains. When the sugars make it to the intestines, bacteria go to work and start producing large amounts of gas.

And if you're ever bitten by a poisonous snake, sucking at the bite to remove the poison, as often shown in the movies and on TV is not only ineffective, but could lead to an infection.
Instead, the bite should be washed with soap and water and immobilized. The bitten area should also be kept lower than the heart. Medical help should be sought immediately.
And why do men have nipples?

While only females have mammary glands, we all start out in a similar way in the embryo, the authors explain. The embryo follows a female template until about six weeks, when the male sex chromosome kicks in.

Men, however, have already developed nipples.

Dim Sum Dollies

So sleepy. ya. Again. hehe~ there's very little pple here today. Some day off, some on leave.. tml public holiday mah...

Went to watch the Dim Sum Dollies yesterday. I think its really nice and worth every price of it! (Although i got the cheapest tix.) They played and sang and danced. Their jokes are really hilarious. They are adding 3 more shows. So for those who missed it, you still have a chance to catch them before they go! I highly recommend this musical. =)

Tmr we'll be going one of my colleague's house for a house warming session at pasir ris from 5 to 8pm.. so faaaaaarrr~~ plus next day i gotta work at 7am.... hm... lucky i got company.......... PY hehee~ she stay near me and so we can go back together. hee~

Thanks a lot. Wish you strike Toto and 4D.

A long entry to summarise Friday, saturday and sunday

We had our car rally last friday... our group had various stops like, labrador park, Airbase museum, Alexander hospital, Changi beach, st andrew cathedral and pasir ris park. There were a total of 9 stages, and all groups didnt have the chance to complete all.. too many stages with too little time allocated. (we missed the punggol stop and the japanese cemetry.. i forgot the other one)

I was the youngest, yet, weakest amongst my group.. our first stop was labrador park and we need to do a lot of physical activities... like counting the number of planks of the aerial staircase, running down slopes and walking up slopes were a challenge for me. I felt nausea after all that activities.. worse still, sorching hot sun!! I was sweating profusely.. Another contributing factor to my nausea was driving around with constant braking from our dear driver! Oh gosh.. motion sickness made me thought of giving up. Nevertheless, I persevered and carried on until our event coordinator called us to say "time's up".. and meeting point was our MD's place.

All the hardwork I experienced did not go down to drain.. our group managed to answer a lot of questions and took all pics. Hence, we came up the third. hee~

**************************
Saturday I met Ting, Liyi and Ping.. we had a nice time chatting and eating at Big 'O'. It's been a while since we last sat together eating and chatting heartily. It's nice to see them all doing well now. Liyi, the blur one, forgot to bring my gift, Ting and Ping wanted me to choose my gift on the day itself.. but i couldnt find one. hence, a belated one, maybe. We hang around orchard until about 6.30pm and kk came to meet me up after work.

You guys were wondering whats Kk's surprises were? Right
1) popping a bouquet of flowers - purple roses
2) bringing me to night safari
3) presenting my fav phone 7270 in front of me, ready to use.

That's soooooooo sweet!! You know, that was the first time i received a Bouquet of flowers.. and first time going night safari!! Everything's so exciting and i really really enjoyed myself that night.. Thanks and I love ya!
*************************
I received many wishes from my friends and family, like mum, sis, bro, kerk, meiyin, Kk, ting, ping, liyi, ying, jooyee, danny, wenwei, angela, shirley, shirz, dennis, CRU folks, adela, steve, qiuling, lixing, jason, sam etc etc.. a lot lah. If i missed anyone out here, pls dun be angry hor~ i really cant remember so many.. I just want to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all of you.. you guys really make me happy. =)

I also went to Vieth's house to see little Ethan.. He's so cute, so small =) After eating lunch and staying for about 3 hours or so, I left and head home to have a little cake cutting "ceremony". kk then brought me out to eat "mee sua" til we're so full... we only had our dinner with mum at around 8.30pm. KFC for dinner.

Thanks once again to all!!
